Read below to get all the details on our 2021 Home is Where the Heart Is event and auction that took place on March 25th! Stay tuned for updates on our 2022 Home is Where the Heart is annual fundraising event!

Who can attend this event?

This event is for everyone! Whether you are a sponsor, sponsor guest, donor, volunteer, agency or business partner, staff, Journey Home fan or a community member who loves Journey Home and wants to ensure we can continue our mission to end homelessness in Connecticut’s Capital region! We invite you to join our fight against homelessness!

How do I register?

Registration is FREE! On Thursday, February 11th you will find a link right here to sign up and register to attend our virtual cocktail party and fundraiser! You receive complimentary access to all the fun plus watch the program and bid in the auction! When you go to register you will have a chance to purchase one of our limited Party Watchboxes. Organize a watch party with family and friends for this fun evening!

What is a Party Watchbox?

When you register for the event you will have the option to select one of the party watchbox options! Your watchbox will include all the makings of a fabulous cocktail party and goodies to participate in our virtual fun at the event! Crunchy, cheesy, savory, sweet and more including the makings for a featured cocktail using Hartford Flavor Company's Wild Moon Liqueur! Plus Brazilian truffles made right in Hartford, and other local goodies. In addition, the party watchboxes are the only way to receive golden tickets for our exclusive drawing during the event!

Simply register for the event, select your watchbox and then a "party in a box" will arrive at your doorstep a few days before the event!

What is a golden ticket?

Each watchbox will include special golden tickets that are only available with the purchase of a watchbox. We will have an exclusive drawing for these golden tickets and this will be your only chance to win some fun prizes! The prizes will be select auction listings that are not available for bidding and your only chance to win them is by the golden ticket drawing!

What is a watch party?

A watch party is a new way for a small group of people to watch an event together in person or miles apart! Cast or stream the event to your smart TV or watch on your preferred device: tablet, desktop, laptop or mobile phone. If you’re not able to host an in-person small group gathering, you can also share the link to sign up with all your friends and family, near and far. Gathering in person? A limited number of party watchboxes are available for purchase until March 12th!

Is there a signature drink for the event?

Yes! It wouldn’t be a Journey Home event without a special cocktail from our friends at Hartford Flavor Company. Click here for the recipe to the Hartford Mule. Ingredients for the Hartford Mule are included in your party watchbox and we will be mixing the drink live at the event!

How do I access the event?

The day before and morning of the event you will receive an email with a direct link to access our virtual Home is Where the Heart Is event. You may use any of your electronic devices such as a smart TV, computer, laptop, phone or tablet. We suggest that you join the even from a larger device for a more immersive experience, but do your bidding from your phone for greater ease. We will also share all the links you need to attend the virtual event through our website, social media and reminder emails.

The Pre-Show will start at 6:30 pm (EST) – Join us as the night kicks off! Learn how to bid, how to donate, make sure you sign in to view the event, and learn about our premier auction items. The rest of the evening will run from 7:00pm to 8:00pm with the online auction ending at 9:00 pm (EST).

When I tune in, will others be able to see me?

Only if your camera is turned on! Whether your camera is on or off, you will always be able to view the program and make comments and connect with others through the chat feature next to the video box. We would love to see your smiling face and encourage you to actively participate in our fun evening!

When will the auction begin and end?

The online auction opens on Sunday, March 21st at 9:00 am (EST). You must create an online account to bid on the items or to donate during the event. After you register to attend the event, you will receive a link to create your online bidding account shortly before the auction opens. The online auction will end at 9:00pm (EST) on Thursday, March 25th.

Will there be a live auction?

This year there will not be a separate live auction during the event as there has been in the past. Instead, we will be highlighting a few select silent auction items that will become live at the start of the event on Thursday, March, 25th. Be sure to log in to the auction to bid that evening so that you have a chance to bid on those three items! The online auction will end at 9:00pm (EST) on Thursday, March 25th.

How do I complete my auction purchase and/or donation?

You will need to finalize your purchase(s) by clicking the “checkout” button after the auction closes. There you’ll see your total, including all auction items you won and your donation. Once you complete the checkout, you will be emailed a receipt.

How will I receive my auction items?

Auction item descriptions will have instructions for how you will receive your items. If your items are gift certificates only, they will be mailed to you. If your auction items include larger physical items, there will be times for you to do curbside pick-up at the Journey Home warehouse in West Hartford. If you cannot do curbside pick-up, please let us know and we will figure out a solution. There are some items that cannot be shipped outside of our region and those will be noted in the auction description.

How do I make a donation during the event?

When you go online for the program, there will be a “Make a Donation” button under the video. As well as a ”Sponsors & About Us” button to learn more about our wonderful sponsors.

What will my donation support?

Your financial gift will support Journey Home’s mission of ensuring a home for all by working together to end homelessness in Connecticut’s Capital region. Now more than ever we need your support! While the event may be virtual, the impact that you can make with your gift is real.
